Fellowship Hall opened for business on December 21, 1971, the vision of four Greensboro, NC, businessmen who had found recovery and wanted to help others find hope and healing through treatment for alcoholism. Our program was built on the tenets of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and modeled after Harbor House, a treatment program in Memphis, TN. We were the first Alcohol and Drug Treatment Specialty Hospital licensed by the State of North Carolina. In 1974, we were first surveyed by The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. We have been continuously accredited by The Joint Commission since our first survey in 1974. Fellowship Hall is a 99-bed private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) specialty hospital treating adult women and men suffering from addiction to alcohol and/or drugs. Our Board of Directors, through careful management of resources and prudent long-range planning, have kept our fees for services significantly lower than comparable treatment centers. We are a mission-driven and value-oriented organization that is well-respected in the treatment industry. We have earned the reputation of being a center of teaching excellence, providing training to Duke University Health System’s Psychiatric Residency Program, as well as training for nursing and counseling programs at our local universities. Fellowship Hall is a special place where you are treated with dignity and respect. We provide a community that meets you where you are without judgement in a serene, calming environment nestled on over 120 acres. For 50 years, we’ve been saving lives from addiction. We have treated more than 30,500 guests and remain committed to perpetuating the vision of our founders to be a “Gateway to Freedom” for individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
